Hobbs Fire Department Information:
The City of Hobbs Fire Department is one of the many Departments within the City of Hobbs. This Department is unique in the fact it contains not only the Fire Service, but also Emergency Medical Services (Ambulance), Fire Prevention, Environmental Services, Building Officials Office and Hobbs Animal Protection Services.
The Fire Service Division provides traditional services offered by most Fire Departments; however, we pride ourselves on a progressive tradition. Training is an integral part of this service and we offer specialized training in hazardous materials, confined space rescue, high angle rescue, vehicle extrication, paramedic specialties, as well as many other highly technical areas. The EMS Division provides Advanced Life Support at the Paramedic level. This is the highest trained emergency medical service available. Our paramedics are trained to provide life saving care in the areas of Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support, and many other areas of advanced care. The Fire Prevention office not only conducts fire investigations, but also provides educational experiences to members of our community. This includes home inspections, smoke alarm programs, school programs on fire safety and an annual week long fire camp for children between the ages of 8 and 11. The Building Officials Office works very closely with the Fire Prevention bureau to ensure structures being remodeled or constructed within our municipality meet or exceed rigorous building codes and safety standards. The Environmental division diligently works to keep our community clean and safe. Their progressive approach has lead to numerous condemnations of structures which have become dilapidated, in ill repair and unsafe for human occupancy. This division is aggressive in application of ordinances which help maintain our Cities aesthetics and safety. The Animal Protection Service is housed out of the new Hobbs Animal Adoption Center which was designed to decrease the large amount of euthanasia conducted daily by promoting spay and neuter programs, education and increased adoptions through a cooperative agreement with the Lea County Humane Society. Their ten year goal is to alleviate needless euthanasia and increase adoptions of healthy safe animals.
